
Younis Khan was born on November 29, 1977, in Mardan, North-West Frontier Province, Pakistan. He played all three formats for Pakistan and was the captain of the side that won the T20 World Cup 2009 against Pakistan.
He made his Test debut in February 2000 against Sri Lanka at Rawalpindi and played for more than 17 years for the team. Younis is the only Pakistani batter who has made over 10,000 runs in Test matches.
He featured in 118 Test matches for his country and amassed 10,099 runs at an average of 52.05. Younis hit 34 centuries and 33 half-centuries in Test matches. He is one of the four Pakistani batters who have hit a triple century in Test matches. No Pakistani batter has hit more centuries than him in Test cricket. He is the only Test cricketer ever to score a hundred in every one of the 11 countries where Test matches are played.
Younis made his ODI debut in February 2000 as well against Sri Lanka in Karachi. He played 265 ODI matches for Pakistan and scored 7249 runs at an average of 31.24. He is among the top 10 batters with the most runs for Pakistan in ODIs. He played his last ODI game against England in November 2015.
Younis featured in 25 T20I matches for Pakistan and finished with 442 runs at a strike rate of 121.42. He hit two half-centuries in the shortest format of the game, with a highest score of 51 runs.
Younis was a part of the Rajasthan Royals squad that lifted the IPL trophy in 2008. He played one game for the Shane Warne-led team that season. He had a stint with Yorkshire and Surrey in the Blast and made 209 runs at a strike rate of 102.95.
