Sanjay Manjrekar was born in Mangaluru, Karnataka on July 12 in 1965,. The former Indian cricketer moved to Maharashtra and played cricket for the Mumbai domestic cricket team from 1984 to 1998, a period in which he made his international debut in 1987. His major achievement with the Indian team was ACC Asia Cup win in 1990-91 and 1995.
Manjrekar made his debut in 1987 and played his last match for India in 1996. Son of the former Indian cricketer, Vijay Manjrekar, Sanjay got a chance to play 37 Tests and 74 ODIs for India.
He made his Test and ODI debuts against the mighty West Indies. His last Test and ODI came against South Africa in 1996, when it seemed like he still had something to offer for his team. However, a poor run with the bat meant Manjrekar never played for India again and only played a couple of domestic seasons with Mumbai.

Speaking of his internatinal career, Manjrekar scored 2043 runs at an average of 37.14, including four hundreds and nine fifties in 37 Tests. In ODIs, he scored 1994 runs in 74 matches at an average of 33.23, including a hundred and 15 fifties. Post retirement, Manjrekar has ventured into broadcasting and commentary.
