OTD Sachin Tendulkar retired from cricket in 2013

In November 2013, the West Indies travelled to India to play a two-match Test series. This was a special series, as it was supposed to be Sachin Tendulkar‘s last. The first Test was played at Eden Gardens, and India won it by an innings and 51 runs. Sachin made 10 runs off 24 deliveries in the match.

The second Test started on November 14 and was played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. India won the toss and elected to bowl. The West Indies made 182 runs in their first innings as Pragyan Ojha took five wickets for 40 runs.

Tendulkar was dismissed on 74 runs off 118 deliveries and hit 12 boundaries. Narsingh Deonarine took his wicket in the 48th over. India made 495 runs in their first innings while the West Indies responded with 187 runs in their second before losing the match by an innings and 126 runs.

The match ended on November 16, and with that, Tendulkar’s historic and decorated career of 24 years concluded. It was the 200th Test match of his career, as he became the first and only player to play 200 Test matches. He finished with 15921 runs at an average of 53.78 with 51 centuries and 68 half-centuries.

Sachin played 463 ODI games and amassed 18426 runs at an average of 44.83. He hit 49 centuries and 96 half-centuries in ODIs. Sachin hit the most half-centuries in ODIs.

He was the first and only player to score 100 international centuries. He finished with the most international appearances and played 664 matches in all three formats. Sachin was the first male cricketer to score a double-century in ODIs. He made a total of 34357 runs, and no player in cricket history has scored more runs across formats.
