
Prithvi Shaw made his Test debut at the age of 18 years and 329 days against the West Indies. The West Indies were on a tour of India in 2018, and the first Test was played at Rajkot. Shaw opened the innings with KL Rahul and took 99 deliveries to reach his century.
He became the youngest batter to score a century in Test matches on debut. Overall, he is the fourth youngest batter on debut in Test cricket. Shaw was dismissed after scoring 134 runs off 154 deliveries in the 51st over.

Shaw scored 70 runs in the first innings of the next Test and remained unbeaten on 33 runs in the second innings. He finished as the leading run-scorer in the series and also won the Player of the Series award. He made 237 runs in three innings in the series at an average of 118.50.
It was the first and the last Test century for Shaw in Test cricket. He played his last Test match against Australia in 2020 and was out for a duck in the first innings. Shaw has played five Test matches for India and scored 339 runs at an average of 42.37.
