Brooke Halliday and Amelia Kerr added 57 runs for the fourth wicket and took the team’s total over the 120-run mark. Amelia made 43 runs off 38 deliveries and was dismissed in the 19th over. New Zealand finished with 158 runs for the loss of five wickets on the board. Nonkululeko Mlaba was the pick of the bowlers for the Proteas women and took two wickets for 31 runs in four overs.
Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits added 51 runs for the first wicket. However, the scenario changed when both batters were dismissed. By the time South Africa crossed the 100-run mark, they had lost six wickets. They finished with 126 runs for the loss of nine wickets and lost the match by 32 runs. Wolvaardt scored 33 runs off 27 deliveries and was the highest scorer for South Africa while no other batter managed to score more than 20. Rosemary Mair and Amelia took three wickets each for New Zealand. Amelia won the Player of the Match award for her all-round performance. She also won the Player of the Tournament award. New Zealand became the fourth team to win the T20 World Cup after Australia, England, and the West Indies.
