OTD: Ishan Kishan slammed fastest ODI double-hundred in 2022

The third ODI of the three-match series between India and Bangladesh on December 10 will always be remembered for Ishan Kishan’s scintillating double-century and how he helped India seal a 227-run win in Chattogram.

Kishan, batting in his ninth ODI innings, powered through to a stunning 210 which came off just 131 balls. The blistering knock comprised 24 fours and 10 sixes. At no point in his innings did he limit himself to just rotating the strike.

The left-handed batter, playing the game just because of Rohit Sharma’s injury, took his opportunity with both hands and plundered each of the opposition bowlers. He forged a massive 290-run stand with Virat Kohli for the second wicket.

Kishan accelerated in brisk fashion after reaching his maiden ODI ton in 85 balls. The 24-year-old went berserk after reaching his hundred and served as the aggressor in the partnership. The manner in which he was batting, it wouldn’t have been a surprise if Kishan would have got past 300 had he not got out in the 36th over.

Kishan’s double-hundred remains the fastest in the format up until now. He took only 126 deliveries to attain the feat as India ended up posting a whopping 409/8 in their 50-over quota. An all-round performance by the bowlers in the second innings meant Bangladesh were bowled out for only 182 in 34 overs. Fascinatingly, Kishan had scored more than the entire Bangladesh team combined.
