Navjot Sidhu managed to score 91 runs before getting out to Mushtaq Ahmed. His 91 runs helped India to reach the target of 288 runs at the loss of 8 wickets. Pakistan opener Saeed Anwar and Aamer Sohail put on a solid partnership, which led to the foundation for other batters.
Aamer Sohail scored 55 runs before getting out to Venkatesh Prasad. However, after getting a good start from the openers, other batters failed as they failed to take control of the game. Pakistan batters didn’t have an answer for Venkatesh Prasad and Anil Kumble’s bowling as they picked three wickets. India bowlers got control of the game as they defeated Pakistan by 39 runs. Pakistan could score only 248 runs and saw themselves on the losing side. By losing this game, India crushed Pakistan’s hopes of entering the Semi-finals.
