
Graham Gooch was born on July 23 in 1959, in Whipps Cross at Essex. His cricketing career started in 1973 and ended in 2000. He played a total of 1194 matches, including international and domestic games. Gooch scored 67057 runs at an average of 45.67. He made 172 centuries and 356 half-centuries in his career. He is one of the 25 batters who have made over 100 centuries in first-class cricket.

He was the fifth English batter to score a triple-century in Test cricket and the last English player to reach that mark in the previous century. His innings of 333 runs came against India in 1990 during the first Test at Lord’s. Gooch, who was the captain of the English side, opened the innings. It was the third-highest individual score in Test cricket by an opener at that time. His score of 333 runs is still the second-best individual score by an English opener in Test cricket.
He played in three different World Cups in three decades. He lost the final of the 1979 World Cup, the 1987 World Cup, and the 1992 World Cup and is the only player to lose three finals of the ODI World Cup.
