ODI World Cup 2023: Predicting Bangladesh’s Playing XI for their encounter against Australia

Bangladesh is out of the World Cup but their Champions trophy hopes are still alive and they consolidated their qualification hopes with a win over Sri Lanka. It was a tightly contested affair with a fair share of controversy but the Bangla Tigers eventually overcame the Lanka challenge. Their last group-stage match will be against a formidable Australian side.

Let’s Identify the Bangladesh’s Playing XI against Australia for the ODI World Cup 2023:

Top Orders

Litton Das

The management has given a lot of confidence to the opening pair of Litton Das and Tanzid Hasan but the performances have not been up to par. Litton Das did get starts in a few matches but he could not convert those into big knocks. This pair will be looking to grab the last opportunity against Australia.

Najmul Hossain Shanto justified his potential in the last match with a brilliant knock to guide Bangladesh in the run chase along with his skipper. This would be another chance for him to continue his form and end the tournament on a high.

Middle Order

Mushfiqur Rahim

Bangladesh’s unstable middle order has been a cause of concern for them but they seemed to have found their perfect combination in the last match. Shakib came out to bat no.4 followed by Mahmudullah at No. 5 and Mushfiqur Rahim at No. 6. This order worked perfectly for them against Sri Lanka and they must stick to it if they want consistency in their batting performance. Towhid Hridoy and all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will provide depth to the middle order.

Bowling Unit

Tanzim Hasan

Tanzim Hasan was given an opportunity in the last match in place of Mustafizur Rahman and the youngster didn’t disappoint as he picked up 3 wickets. Taskin Ahmed and Shoriful Islam also did their job and this management would not want to fiddle with this pace trio in the next match.

Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz also contributed with their spin bowling against Sri Lanka and ended up with wickets. This duo would be crucial in the middle overs against Australia.
