Washington Freedom lost their first game of the Major League Cricket 2025 season to San Francisco Unicorns by a massive margin of 123 runs. The Unicorns’ side was able to score 269 runs on the board thanks to Finn Allen, who scored 151 runs from 51 balls with five boundaries in 19 sixes in his knock. Jack Edwards 2 for 39 from his four overs were the best bowling figures for the Washington Freedom side.
In reply, only Mitchell Owen with 39 and Rachin Ravindra with 42 runs, along with Jack Edwards’ 21 able to put some respectability on Washington Freedom’s scorecard. Their next game against Seattle Orcas Will give the Washington side a great chance to make a comeback in the season. One more loss will mean that Washington will have to play some amazing cricket to keep their knockout hopes alive.
Here is the Washington Freedom XI vs Seattle Orcas
Top order – Mitchell Owen, Rachin Ravindra

Australian batter Mitchell Owen scored 39 runs off just 20 balls in the last game against San Francisco Unicorns. Mitchell Owen didn’t have a great time with the bat when he was wrapped in as a replacement player by the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2025. Rachendra Ravindra: What’s the best batter with 42 runs from 17 balls with his innings including two boundaries and 5 huge hits? Ravindra, who failed with the bat for Chennai Super Kings, seemed in good form with the bat in the first game of the MLC 2025 season.
Middle Order – Jack Edwards, Glenn Maxwell, Glenn Phillips

Jack Edwards scored 21 runs off just seven balls, which also included three massive hits beyond the fence. The Australian all-rounder also picked up two wickets with the ball for Washington in the game against San Francisco. Glenn Maxwell, who has been under the pump after his failed season with Punjab Kings, managed to score just five runs in the first game of the series. The veteran Australian all-rounder, who is also the captain of the Washington side, will have to do well if he wants to see his side go through and win the game against Seattle on Saturday night. Glen Phillips was out for a duck in the last game, and considering his overall experience as well as his talent with the bat, the New Zealand* will be expected to do much better in the next outing.
Lower-order- Andries Gous, Obus Pienaar, Mukhtar Ahmed

USA wicketkeeper and batter Andries Gous began the season on a poor note, scoring just two runs with the bat. Washington will be hoping that their experienced player will be able to come good in the next game against Seattle. Pienaar has enough experience with the bat and ball to make a huge difference for his side in the current Major League 2025 season. Mukhtar Ahmad will be key with the ball as the veteran leg spin bowler can take crucial wickets and also put the brakes on the scoring.
Tail enders – Ian Holland, Ben Sears, Saurabh Netravalkar

United States of America Pacer Ian Holland failed to do well in the last game against the San Francisco Unicorns. The right-arm seamer bowled test 12 deliveries and gave away 30 runs while picking a solitary wicket. New Zealand seamer Ben Sears Bolt 4 over and a mint wicket less while conceding 49 runs. This will be a huge concern for Glenn Maxwell and his side ahead of the next encounter. Saurabh Netravalkar bowled 4 overs and gave away 57 runs while picking just one wicket. Former USA skipper has to do well and find his 2024 World Cup form in a bid to do well in the Major League Cricket 2025 season.
