MLC 2025: Predicting San Francisco Unicorns Playing XI for the clash against MI New York

San Francisco Unicorns have continued their unbeaten start to the MLC 2025 season with yet another win. This time, the Unicorns beat the Texas Super Kings by seven wickets with 23 balls left to play. Faf du Plessis’ 100 led Texas to 198 on the board from their 20 overs. In reply, Matthew Short led the chase with 61 runs while Finn Allen top scored with 78 as Jake Fraser-McGurk scored a quickfire 37.

Speaking after the game, man of the match Matthew Short said, “First game as captain, first game in a while, actually, so glad to take the win. The wicket felt quite nice, and nice to keep the season riding. They are world-class bowlers, all of them kept their heads after the Super Kings were off to a flyer. Did a job towards the end”

Here is the likely SFU vs MINY

Top order – Matthew Short, Finn Allen

Matthew Short & Finn Allen

Matthew Short did well with the bat to score 61 runs off 29 balls with six boundaries and four huge sixes. Short batted well and gave the Unicorns a great start with the bat in pursuit of the 199 runs needed to win. Short also did well as the captain of the side, with Corey Anderson being ruled out due to injury. Finn Allen has continued his blazing form with the bat, scoring 78 off just 35 balls with four boundaries and eight sixes to take his season tally to 294 runs from four games.

Middle Order – Jake Fraser-McGurk, K Sanjay, Hassan Khan

Jake Fraser-McGurk, K Sanjay, Hassan Khan

Australian batter Jake Fraser-McGurk has found his form once more and has been in good form with the bat. The right-handed batter had a season to forget in IPL 2025 for the Delhi Capitals side. The MLC 2025 season, though, has seen McGurk blaze the bowlers to all parts of the ground while batting at number three. Sanjay Krishnamurthy is an upcoming batter with huge talent, especially in the T20 format. Hassan Khan is a very good hitter of the ball and more than useful with the ball with his left-arm spin bowling.

Lower-order- Tim Seifert, Karima Gore, Xavier Bartlett

Tim Seifert, Karima Gore, Xavier Bartlett

After opening the batting in the first few games, Seifert has moved down the order for better balance. Seifert is a very aggressive batter and also more very capable wicketkeeper who provides the perfect balance to the side. Karima Gore is a very good left-arm spin bowler with the ability to take wickets and put the batters under pressure. Xavier Bartlett has been one of the key bowlers in the Big Bash League and has been on the fringes of making it to the national side.

Tail enders – Haris Rauf, Carmi le Roux, Brody Couch

Pakistani pacer Haris Rauf has been breathing fire with the ball and taking key wickets in the MLC 2025 season. Carmi Le Roux and Brody Couch are deceptive bowlers who can seam and swing the new ball as well as do the job in the death overs. All three seamers will have a huge task on their hands when they take on MI New York next match.

SFU vs MINY

M Short, F Allen, JM McGurk, K Sanjay, H Khan, T Seifert, K Gore, X Bartlett, H Rauf, CL Roux, B Couch.
