IPL: Top 3 youngest players to play for CSK

Chennai Super Kings is one of the most successful teams in Indian Premier League (IPL) history. MS Dhoni’s side has so far won four championships. In the mini-auction, CSK bought experienced all-rounder Ben Stokes. They also tried to buy Sam Curran but were denied by the Punjab King’s (PBKS) side.

Currently, in the 2023 edition of the IPL, CSK have played 12 games so far of which they have managed to win seven of them and they are firmly sitting in the second position in the points table with 15 points. On Sunday, May 14, they will face off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the MA Chidambaram in Chennai.

3. Matheesha Pathirana – 19 years 148 days:

The Sri Lanka youngster, Matheesha Pathirana made his debut for the Chennai Super Kings in the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League. In that season he played only two matches, that too in the last stage of his team’s campaign where he snapped two wickets. In the ongoing season, he has played eight games so far in the cash-rich league where he has picked 13 wickets so far in the tournament and he is currently CSK’s main bowler at the moment.

2. Ankit Rajpoot – 19 years 123 days:

Ankit Rajpoot, at the age of 19 years and 123 days old, became the youngest bowler to grab a wicket for the four-time champions. In 2013, he dismissed Ricky Ponting, when he was playing for the Mumbai Indians (MI) and achieved this accomplishment. Despite his great pace and seam, he was unable to gain significant ground and was forgotten by the side due to his poor form. Dismissing Ponting is not a big deal as they say, “live for the moment.”

1. Abhinav Mukund – 18 years 139 days:

The youngest cricketer to play for the CSK side is Tamil Nadu’s left-hand batter, Abhinav Mukund who started playing for this team at the age of 18 years 139 days. He made his debut for the side against the Rajasthan Royals on May 24. 2008 where he was dismissed on the first ball bowled by Pakistan legend, Sohail Tanvir. He played only two matches for CSK and was not able to open his account.
