IPL: Top 3 highest partnerships for PBKS

Punjab Kings or formerly known as Kings XI Punjab is one of the most popular sports teams in the world of sport. A majority of their popularity comes from their celebrity collaborations and since their owner is a Bollywood veteran in the form of Preity Zinta, they also have a massive fan following.

Even after this, Punjab Kings have had many great players play for them and constitute big scores. These include Virendra Sehwag, Adam Gilchrist, Chris Gayle, Shikhar Dhawan and have scored huge runs for them. But let’s take a look at the top 3 highest partnerships for PBKS

3. Shaun Marsh and Azhar Mahmood (148 runs, 2013)

The third wicket combination of 148 from 80 pitches involving Mahmood and Marsh was the defining moment of the innings. Marsh (63 off 47 balls) and Mahmood (80 off 44 deliveries) batted purposefully and destroyed the Mumbai Indians bowling.

Mahmood and Marsh (batting at three) built on the early wicket losses. Punjab’s score after five overs was merely 22. Marsh, though, retaliated. Three boundaries during the sixth over of Marsh’s final Powerplay over against Dhawal Kulkarni changed the momentum in Punjab’s favor. After that, the two Punjab batters were acting out because they didn’t give the partnership an opportunity throughout their 13.2 overs of play.

2. KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal (183 runs, 2020)

Openers for Kings XI Punjab KL The bowlers for Rajasthan Royals were in ruins after Rahul with Mayank Agarwal sewed an unprecedented partnership on Sunday. The pair demonstrated why Punjab was keeping players like Chris Gayle off the pitch along with why they represent a dangerous batting combo.

The 183-run stand featuring Agarwal and Rahul, which surpasses the 136-run stand involving Adam Gilchrist with Paul Valthaty in the IPL 2011 season, is the biggest opening pair for Kings XI Punjab. Additionally, it is KXIP’s second-highest wicket-to-wicket partnership, trailing only the 206-run stand among Adam Gilchrist as well as Shaun Marsh in IPL 2011.

1. Shaun Marsh and Adam Gilchrist (206, 2011)

In a lopsided encounter in the 63rd Indian Premier League match of 2011, Kings XI Punjab defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore by a score of 111 runs thanks to a great 206 run partnership between Adam Gilchrist as well as Shaun Marsh. Adam Gilchrist’s 53-ball hundred along with Shaun Marsh’s unbeaten 79 were a crucial reason for their victory over the team from Karnataka.

The 111-run victory by Kings XI Punjab over RCB was the second-largest victory in the Indian Premier League in terms of runs at that point of time, and it marked RCB’s second-worst loss by a margin of runs. After Paul Valthaty, Adam Gilchrist became the second-fastest batter for Kings XI Punjab to achieve 100 runs in the Indian Premier League with a 53-ball century.
