IPL: Top 3 Death Overs Bowlers of All-Time for Delhi Capitals

Death bowling has always been a crucial part of any format of the game. Especially, in the shortest format, if a captain has the luxury of having top-quality death bowlers, then those players can decide many matches in favor of their teams.

Delhi Capitals (DC) have won any title so far in the IPL. But, over the years, many top-quality death bowlers have performed for this franchise. Thus, DC fans have witnessed some top performances from those players.    

Here are the top three death over bowlers of all time for DC in IPL:

3. Zaheer Khan (2015 – 2017)

This veteran pacer was part of DC from 2015 to 2017. Before IPL 2015, DC bought Zaheer Khan for INR 4 Crore. In those three seasons, he picked up 27 wickets in 30 matches. But he was always known as a death over specialist during his playing days. In IPL, Zaheer Khan took 35 wickets in the death overs of 73 innings. He conceded 785 runs at an economy of 8.80. He also managed to bowl 151 dot balls. For DC, he took six wickets in 18 innings at an economy of 10.21. Only 30 dot balls he managed in those innings.

2. Mustafizur Rahman (2022 – present)

Since 2022, this Bangladesh pacer has been a part of DC in the IPL. In IPL 2022, this franchise bought Mustafizur Rahman for INR 2 Crore. Then, for IPL 2023, they retained him. In these two seasons, he picked up nine wickets in 10 matches. Rahman is known as one of the best death over bowlers in the modern era of cricket. In IPL, Mustafizur Rahman has taken 24 wickets in the death overs of 44 innings. He has conceded 634 runs, at an economy of 9.23. For DC, he has taken seven wickets in 10 innings at an economy of 9.83. 

1. Anrich Nortje (2020 – present)

This protea bowler has been a part of DC since 2020 in IPL. In these four seasons, he has taken 53 wickets in 40 matches. Nortje is very well-known for his ability to bowl brilliantly at death overs. In IPL, Anrich Nortje has taken 18 wickets in the death overs of 37 innings. He has bowled 106 dot balls so far. However, Nortje has conceded 427 runs at an economy of 8.71. In IPL 2022, DC retained the pacer for INR 6.5 Crore.
