IPL 2026 Auction: Top 3 steal deals

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction concluded on Tuesday, December 16, in Abu Dhabi, delivering several headline-grabbing purchases. While many players fetched hefty price tags, a few high-quality cricketers slipped under the radar and were acquired at remarkably low prices. Here let us take a look at the top three steal deals from the IPL 2026 mini-auction.

Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra

New Zealand all-rounder Rachin Ravindra emerged as one of the biggest bargains of the auction after being picked up by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for his base price of ₹2 crore. Ravindra was released by Chennai Super Kings (CSK), who had signed him for ₹4 crore at the IPL 2025 mega auction. Despite the reduced price, Ravindra remains a highly versatile cricketer with significant upside.

The left-hander spent two seasons with CSK and showed flashes of brilliance at the top of the order. Capable of batting aggressively in the powerplay and contributing with his accurate left-arm spin in the middle overs, Ravindra adds balance to KKR’s lineup. This marks his first stint with a franchise other than CSK.

Wanindu Hasaranga

Sri Lankan leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga was another major steal, snapped up by Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for his base price of ₹2 crore. Released by Rajasthan Royals ahead of the auction, the Sri Lankan all-rounder found a new home at LSG at a surprisingly low price.

Renowned for his wicket-taking ability and control in the middle overs, Hasaranga can change games with his four-over spells. He is also a handy lower-middle-order batter capable of accelerating the scoring rate when required..

Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock

Quinton de Kock was arguably the biggest steal of the auction, returning to Mumbai Indians (MI) for just ₹1 crore. The former MI star rejoined the five-time champions after a five-year gap. During his earlier stint with MI, de Kock enjoyed two outstanding seasons, scoring over 500 runs each.

With more than 3,000 IPL runs across six franchises, de Kock brings experience at the top of the order. His wicketkeeping skills further enhance his value. Back alongside Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya, and Ryan Rickelton, de Kock’s return could play a vital role in MI’s quest for a record sixth IPL title.
