Indian T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav had a great season with the bat in the IPL 2025 season for the Mumbai Indians. The 34-year-old became the first batter in Mumbai Indians’ history to score over 700 runs in a single season of the IPL. This wasn’t enough as MI weren’t able to beat Punjab Kings and make it to the finals, losing in the second qualifier stage of the season.
Yadav became the first batter in IPL history to score 25 or more runs in each of the games he has played. SKY, as he is fondly called, ended the season with 717 runs from 16 games with an average of 65 and a strike-rate of 167 and also hit five half-centuries. Surya’s form with the bat was one of the reasons why MI were able to make it to the playoff stages after being rooted at the bottom of the table.
Here are Suryakumar Yadav’s top 3 performances in IPL 2025
3. 54 vs Lucknow Super Giants
Mumbai Indians took on Lucknow Super Giants in a key afternoon game at the Wankhede Stadium. It was the home team which batted first and scored 215 on the board from their 20 overs. Ryan Rickelton gave MI a great start with his 58 off 32 balls with six boundaries and four sixes. Suryakumar Yadav batted well to score 54 off 28 balls with four boundaries and four sixes. The veteran batter did well to keep the scoring rate going as he batted deep into the innings and saw MI go past 200 runs.
2. 68 not out vs Chennai Super Kings
Having lost their previous game against CSK, it was a huge chance for MI to end their losing run against their arch rivals. Suryakumar Yadav had led the side against CSK in the first game of the season when Hardik Pandya wasn’t available as he was serving a one-game ban. CSK batted first and scored 176 on the board as Ravindra Jadeja and Shivam Dube scored fifties. In reply, MI lost Ryan Rickelton early for 24 but Yadav found a great partner in Rohit Sharma, as the pair made sure MI went on to win the game by nine wickets. Yadav was not out on 68 off 30 balls and hit two successive sixes to win the game.
1. 73 not out vs Delhi Capitals
Once the IPL 2025 season resumed, MI took on Delhi Capitals at home in a key encounter. Mumbai Indians were asked to bat first and were struggling at one stage. Suryakumar Yadav made sure that the home team ended up 180 on the board from their 20 overs and also won the game by 59 runs. The veteran batter scored 73 off 43 balls with seven boundaries and four sixes and also added 57 runs for the sixth wicket with Naman Dhir.
