IPL 2025: Predicting SRH’s Playing XI for their clash against PBKS

As the IPL 2025 season heads to the halfway stage of the season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be looking to stage a tremendous comeback. Pat Cummins and his side are currently bottom of the table with just one win so far. Their only win of the season came in the game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the start of the season, where SRH had scored 286 runs.

Cummins will know that playing against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at this point of the season is a tough task. One positive for SRH is that they will be playing the game in front of their home fans, who could give the much-needed boost as the 12th man. SRH team knows that it takes just one win to turn the season around and will be eagerly waiting to take on PBKS in their next encounter.

Here is the likely SRH XI vs PBKS in the upcoming IPL 2025 game

Top order – Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma

Hyderabad’s opening duo that had rocked the IPL 2024 season has failed to come to the fore so far with the bat. Travis Head hasn’t been able to get going so far and recapture the form he had shown last season. Abhishek Sharma is another batter who needs a huge score not only for himself but also for the sake of his team. If the Head and Sharma duo can get going then Punjab bowlers could be in for a rough night.

Middle Order – Ishan Kishan, Nitish Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen

Ishan Kishan has been woeful with the bat after making his SRH debut with a ton. The left-handed batter has been a huge let down in the last few games where he has seen the runs column dry up. Nitish Reddy is yet another player who has been getting decent starts with the bat and has failed to convert it to a big score, Heinrich Klaasen has done well in whatever chances he has got so far but will need to play a big innings.

Lower-order- Aniket Verma, Pat Cummins, Kamindu Mendis

Young batting sensation Aniket Verma has been the one bright spark for SRH this year. Varma has shown the world what a dangerous batter he is with his big-hitting skills. Kamindu Mendis has made a slow start to his IPL career but considering his class and talent the Sri Lankan star will be expected to come good. Pat Cummins will have to do very well not just as the bowler and batter, but also as the skipper if SRH has to turn the season around. 

Tail enders – Mohammed Shami, Harshal Patel, Zeeshan Ansari

The bowling for SRH has been abysmal, and Shami’s lack of penetration in the early overs or Harshal Patel’s lack of wickets in the final overs has started to hurt the team. Simarjeet Singh and Jaydev Unadkat proved to be ineffective in the last game as the duo went for 36 runs from their combined three overs. Zeeshan Ansari will be keen to show his wares to the world after his disappointing second game of the tournament.
