Five time IPL winners Mumbai Indians have been on a roll winning five games in succession. This has seen the Men in Blue and Gold move to second spot in the table after being rooted to the bottom of the table in the early part of the season. In their last match, Mumbai beat Lucknow Super Giants by 55 runs to end their winless streak against their nemesis.
One more win for Mumbai Indians on Thursday will put them on the cusp of confirming their spot in the playoffs. Mumbai Indians will not be complacent as they know how dangerous Rajasthan Royals can be now that their opponents aren’t in the race for a playoff. The five time IPL winners will be keen to continue their winning run and make it six wins in succession and also end their two-match losing streak vs the Royals.
Here is the likely MI XI vs RR
Top order

Former MI captain Rohit Sharma has scored 240 runs this season after a slow start which saw him score just 82 runs from six matches. Fifties against Chennai and Hyderabad showed that the veteran batter still is a force to be reckoned with. Fans will be hoping that Rohit can score a big one to give them the belated gift on the occasions of his 38th birthday. Ryan Rickelton scored an impressive 58 in the last game against LSG to give MI a great start with the bat. Rickelton though will want to continue his good form with the bat as he has been inconsistent so far this season.
Middle Order

After a slow start to the season, Will Jacks has emerged as one of the key players for MI with the bat and ball. Jacks has been scoring crucial runs but hasn’t been making use of the good starts he has got with the bat. With the ball Jacks has been the key wicket provider as seen in the game against LSG last Sunday. Suryakumar Yadav has been at the top of his game and is in the running for the orange cap. Yadav has been scoring fifties with ease but will want to score a big one to help MI beat RR. Tilak Varma has been having a quiet time with the bat in the last few games, the youngster is just one hit away from getting back to his best.
Lower-order

Three batters with the ability to destroy any attack on their day. skipper Hardik Pandya has shown what he can do with the bat with his brutal knock against RCB in the early part of the season. Pandya has also been effective with the ball and picked a fifer this campaign. Naman Dhir has adapted well to his role as a finisher and scored key runs for his side this year. Corbin Bosch had a great debut scoring 20 important runs and also bowled well against LSG. The South African could be retained for yet another game even if Santner is passed fit for the game.
Tail enders

Deepak Chahar will be heading back to a venue where he has played most of his cricket. This could be the much needed change for Chahar to find his form and consistency with the ball. Trent Boult has become the bowler that every MI had been waiting for with his terrific bowling with the new ball as well as in the death overs. Jasprit Bumrah delivered his best performance of the season with his four wicket haul vs LSG in the last game and will want to continue with the same intensity vs RR.
