IPL 2025: Predicting KRR Playing XI for their clash against RR 

Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders began their IPL 2025 season with a loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the first match of the season. Virat Kohli and Phil Salt put the KKR bowlers to the sword and won the game by seven wickets with 22 balls left to play in the game. 

KKR now travel across to Guwahati to take on Rajasthan Royals in their second game of the season. Ajinkya Rahane will know that facing RR will be a huge challenge because just like his side, the Royals have also started the season with a huge loss against SRH on Sunday.

Top order  

South African opener Quinton De Kock was out early in the first match of the IPL 2025 season to Josh Hazlewood. Over the last few years, De Kock has shown what a dangerous batter he can be once gets going. On his day there is no stopping De Kock as he makes the bowlers look like pedestrians. Sunil Narine who had batted well last season showed glimpses of his old form with the bat and scored 44 in the game against RCB. 

Middle Order  

Skipper Ajinkya Rahane came out firing on all cylinders as he hit a terrific fifty. Rahane will be keen to do well against his former side RR and help KKR win the game. Venkatesh Iyer who was purchased for a huge sum of money failed to do justice to the price tag as he was out cheaply in the previous encounter. Young Angkrish Raghuvanshi, batted well to score 30 runs in the last match to show his class with the bat. 

Lower-order 

KKR’s lower order didn’t have a great outing with the bat in the last game versus RCB. Rinku Singh was out for just 12 runs falling to Krunal Pandya. Andre Russell on the other hand scored four runs before falling to Suyash Sharma. Ramandeep Singh was largely absent with just six runs with the bat and barely being noticed in the field. 

Tail enders  

Spinner Varun Chakravarthy picked one wicket with the ball but was hit for 43 from his four overs. The 33-year-old will hope to rebound to form and pick key wickets with the ball. Spencer Johnson and Harshit Rana were smashed for runs by Kohli and Salt but the young seamers have loads of talent not to take any wickets in the next game versus RR.
