IPL 2025: Predicting GT’s Playing XI for their clash against LSG

The table toppers, Gujarat Titans, will take on the Lucknow Super Giants in the 64th match of the ongoing IPL 2025. Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium will host this game on Thursday, May 22, at 7:30 PM (IST). They have already qualified for the tournament’s playoff stage, with nine wins and three defeats in their 12 games.

Shubman Gill’s men have 18 points to their name and are coming off four wins while losing only one in their last five games. A win in this game will strengthen their chances of finishing at the top to secure two chances of qualifying for the final of the tournament.

With that said, here we’ll have a look at the predicted playing XI of the Gujarat Titans for their upcoming clash against the Lucknow Super Giants.

Openers

Sai Sudharsan

The opening pair of the Gujarat Titans will look the same, as the duo of Sai Sudharsan and skipper Shubman Gill produced a historic performance in the last game against Delhi Capitals. They were unbeaten with 205 runs for no loss helping GT win the game by 10 wickets.

Sai Sudharsan scored 108 runs off just 61 balls, with 12 fours and four sixes, alongside Shubman Gill’s 93 runs off just 53 balls, with three fours and seven sixes. So, the GT will go ahead with the same opening duo in the next game against LSG.

Middle-Order

Jos Buttler

The middle order of the Titans is expected to start with the veteran wicketkeeper-batter Jos Buttler, who has been in a brilliant run of form in the tournament’s current season. He was followed by Sherfane Rutherford at number four to score some quick runs in the middle overs.

Later in the middle order, M Shahrukh Khan and Rahul Tewatia will be there to bat at numbers five and six. Both batters are known for their power-hitting abilities and score quick runs in the death phase of the innings.

All-Rounder

Rashid Khan

Star Afghanistan spin-all rounder Rashid Khan can be picked as a specialist all-rounder in the GT playing XI for their upcoming game against LSG. He could be a crucial asset both with the bat and the ball for his side, be it in the first innings or the second half of the game.

Rashid can trouble the opponent batters with his spin skills, especially in the middle overs of the game. Besides that, he can also hit some big shots in the death overs of the innings.

Bowlers

Mohammed Siraj

GT’s core bowling attack might include three out-and-out pacers, Kagiso Rabada, Arshda Khan, and Mohammed Siraj. Besides these three, the purple cap holder Prasidh Krishna could also be included as an impact player, replacing a specialist batter or vice versa.

This pace trio/quartet will be accompanied by the specialist spinner R Sai Kishore, who scalped a wicket in the last game against LSG. Besides him, Arshad Khan and Prasidh Krishna scalped a wicket each in the previous game against LSG.
