IPL 2025: Predicting DC’s Playing XI for their clash against PBKS

The ‘knocked out’ Delhi Capitals will face the ‘already qualified’ in the 66th game of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025). Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh Stadium will host this game on Saturday, May 24, at 7:30 PM (IST). As DC are already eliminated from the tournament, they will aim to end their campaign on a winning note. 

Currently, Axar Patel’s men are placed in the fifth spot on the tournament standings, winning and losing six games each, alongside a no-result game. They are coming off 4 defeats and a ‘no-result’ game in their last five games. 

With that said, here we’ll have a look at the predicted playing XI of the Delhi Capitals for their upcoming clash against the Punjab Kings. 

Openers:

The DC might opt to go ahead with the same opening pair of the veteran wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul and the vice-captain Faf du Plessis. However, the duo failed to live up to expectations in the last game against MI. But still, the management might bank on their experience and ability to score quick runs in the powerplay phase of the game. 

KL Rahul has also been in a brilliant run of form with the bat in the tournament’s current season so far. It also included an unbeaten half-century against the Gujarat Titans. His calm batting approach alongside Faf du Plessis’ aggressive batting would be a great mix for DC in the upcoming game against PBKS. 

Middle-Order:  

Delhi’s middle-order is expected to start with the wicketkeeper-batter Abishek Porel at number three, who might add some crucial runs with his swashbuckling batting approach. He will be followed by Sameer Rizvi at number four, who scored a crucial 39 runs off 35 balls, with six fours and a six in the last game against MI. However, his knock ended on the losing side of the game. 

Later in the middle order, Vipraj Nigam and Tristan Stubbs might also be sent at number four or number five, or vice versa. Vipraj also scored a quick 20 runs off just 11 balls, with three fours and a six in the last game. Tristan Stubbs could also contribute with some impactful runs in the death overs. 

All-Rounder: 

Skipper Axar Patel is expected to make his comeback in the last game of his side’s IPL 2025 campaign. He will also be there in the playing XI in the role of a specialist all-rounder. Axar could be a crucial asset with the bat, as he can also be promoted up in the order. 

Besides that, his spin abilities might also give an extra spin option to utilise to trouble the opponent batters in the middle overs of the game.

Bowlers: 

The core bowling lineup of the Capitals might include three out-and-out pacers, Dushmantha Chameera, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mukesh Kumar. Chameera and Rahman scalped a wicket each in the last game against MI, alongside 2 wickets picked by Mukesh Kumar. 

This pace trio will be accompanied by the star specialist spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who bowled an economical spell in the last game, scalping a wicket at just 22 runs in his 4 overs.
