Indian Premier League Match 25 saw Kolkata Knight Riders defeating Chennai Super Kings by eight wickets with 59 balls remaining. In the IPL 2025, this is the Super Kings’ sixth straight defeat. Even though they defeated the Mumbai Indians, their bitter rivals, to start the season, they have subsequently lost to RR and PBKS away from home and to RCB and DC at home. So far, CSK has only won once and gained two points from six games.
KKR is going through an unpredictable season. After losing their first match they now won three games and are standing on third spot in IPL 2025. KKR’s confidence is now boosted with the win against CSK. In the upcoming games, CSK need to work on their mistake to win the games left in IPL.
1. Fail in top order

CSK’s top order hasn’t been up to par in the 2025 Indian Premier League. The opening pair of Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway failed to give the team a good start. Only 12 runs were scored by Conway from 11 deliveries, while Rachin scored four off nine. Coming down to bat at no. 3 position Tripathi got 16 runs in 22 balls who was replacing Ruturaj Gaikwad. He looks to struggle with the bat again even getting to chance down the order. It’s now too late for Chennai Super Kings to get a chance to play in the playoffs.
2. Struggling Middle Order:

Following the openers’ dismissal during the powerplay, Vijay Shakar entered the game as the number four batsman. Shakar tried to bring stability but got out in tenth putting CSK in trouble as the score was 59/3. Later Tripathi also got out followed by other middle-order players. Even Impact player Deepak Hooda failed to score runs. MS Dhoni, who entered the game at number nine, was removed for only one run and was unable to make much of an impact.
3. Throwing wickets to spin:

The mystery-spin combination of Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine of KKR, who took five wickets in eight overs today, was the cause for CSK’s defeat in addition to some of the batters’ bad batting performance. During his four overs today, Varun Chakravarthy captured two wickets while giving up just 22 runs. A player awarded Player of the Match, Sunil Narine bowled four overs, gave up just 13 runs, and claimed three wickets.
