IPL 2024: Predicting Rajasthan Royals’ Playing XI for their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders

Get ready for a battle between the table toppers. The Rajasthan Royals (RR), who are currently sitting pretty at the top of the IPL points table, are about to face off against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), the team right behind them in second place. This huge match will be the 31st of the IPL season and will be played at the famous Eden Gardens stadium. 

Both teams are feeling confident after winning their last games, which puts them in a great position to make it to the playoffs (the final rounds of the tournament). The Rajasthan Royals have been on fire this season, and in this article, we’re going to guess who might be starting for them in this important clash against KKR. 

Top Order 

1.  Yashasvi Jaiswal 

Yashasvi Jaiswal is an explosive Indian batter and has been a key batter for RR in the last couple of seasons. Jaiswal, the top run-getter for RR in the last season, hasn’t been in great form this season, and RR would want him to come back to his run-scoring ways as the season is moving toward the halfway point.  

2. Jos Buttler 

The England white-ball captain is one of the most destructive batters going around in the world. He proved his brilliance by hitting a sensational century against RCB. Butter was given rest in the last encounter against PBKS, but he will play in the next match against KKR, and the management hopes that he will play according to his reputation against a strong KKR outfit as well. 

3. Sanju Samson (c & wk) 

Sanju Samson is RR’s captain and a vital cog of RR’s batting line-up. He has been in good form this season so far and has been the third-highest run-scorer in the season so far with 264 runs at an impressive average of 66 and a strike rate of 155. Samson has led the team well and RR will be hoping that he keeps his sensational run intact as the tournament progresses further. 

Middle Order 

4. Riyan Parag 

The sensational form of Riyan Parag has come out as really good news for RR this season. RR has persisted with the talented youngster from Assam for the last 4 years despite an inconsistent run, but their patience has finally started to reap benefits as Riyan Parag has been in blistering form in this year’s IPL. He has scored 284 runs in the season so far and has been in the 2nd spot in the list of highest run-scorers. 

5. Dhruv Jurel 

Dhruv Jurel had a decent season with RR last year, but he hasn’t been provided with ample opportunities this season so far. Dhruv made his India debut in Tests just before the IPL and everyone was excited to see his performance in the IPL, but he was provided with scarce chances this year and RR will look to utilize him better as the tournament progresses. 

6. Shimron Hetmyer 

Shimron Hetmyer has been one of the underrated players in RR. He has time and again finished games successfully for RR and the last encounter against PKBS was a prime example of it. He is also one of the safest fielders on the team and is one of the important cogs of their batting line-up. 

7. Rovman Powell 

Rovman Powell has been one of the most-fiercest strikers of the cricket ball in the world. The West Indies captain can change the match on their head like he did in the last match against the PBKS which is why RR would be inclined towards persisting with him against KKR as well in the next match. 

Bowlers 

8. Keshav Maharaj 

Keshav Maharaj, who debuted in the IPL against GT this year was impressed with his performance against PBKS last year. He scalped two wickets in his 2nd game for just 23 runs in 4 overs. Maharaj is also a handy batter which is why his inclusion provides RR with a much-needed balance as well. 

9. Trent Boult 

Trent Boult is one of the most lethal new ball bowlers in IPL and has made a major impact with his bowling prowess in the powerplay. Boult has scalped 6 wickets in the 6 matches he has played so far and is one of the prominent reasons for the success of RR this season. 

10. Avesh Khan 

Avesh Khan’s performance in this year’s IPL has been hot and cold but he is still an important bowler for RR. He was given the harder role of bowling in the death which he performed decently. However, RR would like him to improve his game and be more consistent with his performance. 

 11. Yuzvendra Chahal 

Yuzvendra Chahal has been the best bowler in the IPL so far. He has picked up 11 wickets in the 6 matches they have played so far, which places him at the top spot in the list of highest wicket-takers. He has been instrumental in RR’s success this season and will play an important role in the next fixture against KKR.
