IPL 2024: Predicting Gujarat Titans’ Playing XI for their clash against Lucknow Super Giants

In this article, we will discuss IPL 2024 Predicting Gujarat Titans’ Playing XI for their clash against Lucknow Super Giants. LSG and GT will be up against each. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) will be up against each other in the 21st match of the IPL 2024. Both the teams have had a similar journey in the ongoing league. LSG lost the first match of their campaign against RR. But they have made a good comeback since then, winning both their games. They defeated PBKS by 21 runs and won their most recent game against RCB by 28 runs. They are currently placed in the 4th spot in the points table.

GT has had a roller coaster of a journey in the league so far. They clinched a thrilling win against MI in their first match but lost by a huge margin against CSK in the 2nd game. The 2022 champions made a quick return to beat SRH by 7 wickets. While the win was good, they faced PBKS in their last game and suffered a close loss. In the last over of the match, Shashank Singh pulled off a 3-wicket win with his brilliant knock.

The focus of both teams would be to win the upcoming game. It will be happening at Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow. It will be the second match at the venue. The last time these two sides faced each other, it was a low scoring thriller where GT managed to hold their nerves to close out the game. LSG with their winning momentum might be the favorites to win. But GT has a good set of players to challenge the home side.

Here is the playing XI of GT against LSG:

Top order – Shubman Gill (C), Wriddhiman Saha (WK), and Kane Williamson

Shubman Gill will open the innings alongside Wriddhiman Saha. Gill would be confident going into the game after he scored 89 in the last game against PBKS. The added responsibility of captaincy seems to have hampered his batting. He would be looking to fire as a batter. To partner him in the powerplay overs would be Wriddhiman Saha. He is an experienced batter and knows how to bat at the top. Consistency is the key for Saha.

With the gloves, he has been good against both pacers and spinners. With the bat, he needs to be more reactive. To follow him is likely to be Kane Williamson. The star batter made his first appearance of the season in the last game against PBKS. The Kiwi batter scored 26 runs in 22 balls before getting dismissed. He would like to be better in the match against LSG which has a good bowling attack. He needs to bat with intent.

Middle order – Sai Sudarshan, Azmatullah Omarzai, Abhinav Manohar, and Rahul Tewatia

At number 4, GT will continue with Sai Sudarshan. The younge previous game against PBKS, the young batter scored 33 runs in 18 balls which gave the much-required momentum for GT’s innings. To follow him would be Azmatullah Omarzai. He is yet to fire with the bat in the ongoing season. But given his show in the ODI WC 2023 and the bilateral series against India, one would know his abilities to perform. As a bowler, he can be handy with the new ball where he can bowl outswingers.

Given the failure of Vijay Shankar till now, GT is likely to rope in Abhinav Manohar for the game against LSG. The finisher has been good in his career for GT and deserves to get the game against LSG. To follow him would be Rahul Tewatia, who returned to form with his finishing against PBKS. His knock propelled GT to a score of 199 runs on the board. GT would love to see consistency from him in scoring runs. On his day, Tewatia can win matches on his own.

Bowlers – Rashid Khan, Umesh Yadav, Noor Ahmed, Mohit Sharma, and Darshan Nalkande (Impact substitute)

With the new ball, Umesh Yadav might get one last chance before the management might think of replacing him. He has been out of form and average with the ball. While Omarzai is the main bowler at the top, GT can get Rashid Khan in the PP overs. He is out of form, getting hammered for runs in every match. In the middle overs, he needs to claim wickets and assist the duo of Noor Ahmed and Mohit Sharma well.

Mohit will be the main death bowler. He has been good so far with cutters, Yorkers, slower ones, and wide yorkers. In the middle overs, Noor was good as usual. In both the games, the chinaman spinner has claimed wickets for his side. At the death, GT must bowl out Darshan Nalkande, who has come in as the impact player in the last couple of games. The talented pacer can be good with his yorkers and bouncers but must be consistent in line and length.

GT’s predicted XI against LSG: Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Shubman Gill (C), Kane Williamson, Sai Sudarshan, Azmatullah Omarzai, Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Mohit Sharma, Noor Ahmed, Umesh Yadav, Darshan Nalkande (Impact player)
