IND vs WI 2025: Predicting West Indies XI for first Test

India and the West Indies will clash in the first Test of the two-match series from October 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, and it is part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle.

West Indies had an embarrassing start to their new WTC cycle as they suffered a 0-3 series defeat to Australia, including getting all-out for 27 in the final Test. The West Indies will hope for a good outing in India, whom they have not defeated in a Test series in India since 1994-95.

Here is the predicted West Indies XI for the first Test of IND vs. WI 2025:

Top Order: Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Alick Athanaze, Kevlon Anderson

West Indies legend Shivnarine Chanderpaul’s son, Tagenarine, and Alick Athanaze will open the batting for the Windies while Kevlon Anderson will bat at no. 3. Chanderpaul made his return to the Windies team after Kraigg Brathwaite was sidelined. He has scored 560 runs at an average of 32.94 in 10 Tests, including one century and one fifty, with the best score of 207*.

Athanaze has scored 627 runs at an average of 25.08 in 13 Tests, including four fifties, with the best score of 92. Kevlon Anderson has scored three runs in his only Test so far but he has scored 1514 runs at an average of 42.05 in 24 FC matches, including five centuries and six fifties, with the highest score of 153.

Middle Order: Brandon King, Roston Chase (C), Shai Hope (WK)

Brandon King has scored 129 runs at an average of 21.50 in three Tests, including the highest score of 75. Roston Chase has scored 2379 runs at an average of 25.85 and taken 86 wickets at an average of 46.27 in 52 Tests, including five centuries, 11 fifties, and four fifers, including the best score of 137* and best bowling figures of 8/60.

Shai Hope will keep wicket and has scored 1839 runs with an average of 24.52 in 41 Tests, including two centuries and five fifties, with the highest score of 147.

Lower Order: Justin Greaves, Jomel Warrican

Justin Greaves has made 305 runs at an average of 19.06 and taken 15 wickets in nine tests, including one hundred and the highest score of 115*. Vice-captain Jomel Warrican will be their lead spinner and has taken 73 wickets at an average of 28.26 in 21 Tests, including two fifers, with best bowling figures of 7/32.

Bowlers: Jediah Blades, Khary Pierre, Jayden Seales

Khary Pierre has the chance to make his West Indies Test debut at the age of 34, having taken 111 wickets at an average of 22.81, including the best bowling figures of 8/27. Jediah Blades is also set to make his Test debut for the West Indies at the age of 23. Jayden Seales has impressed aplenty and has 88 wickets at an average of 22.32 in 21 Tests, with the best bowling figures of 6/61.
