1. 8/65 vs England, The Oval, 1902

This is his top spell in Test history, which came during the fifth Test match, which was played from August 11 to 13 1902 at the Oval in London. However, it came in the losing cause as his side suffered the defeat against the host by just one wicket.

Speaking about the game here, Australia posted 324 and 121 runs. Notably, Trumble had scalped eight wickets in the first inning, bundling them out for 183 runs; however, the hosts were too good with the bat in the second inning and chased down the total.

Trumble’s second top spell came during the fifth Test match, which was played at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Stadium from March 5 to 8 back in 1904. The star spinner picked up seven wickets and guided his side to the win by 218 runs.

Speaking about the game here, Australia made 247 and 133 runs in the first and second innings, respectively. However, during the chase, England could only pile up 61 and 101 runs, respectively, and won the game by 218 runs.

3. 6/53 vs England, Manchester, 1902

This was the fourth Test match between Australia and England, played from July 24 to 26 at Manchester. Notably, Trumble had picked up six wickets in the second innings of the game and had guided his side to win the game by three runs.

Speaking about the game here, Australia posted 299 and 86 runs in the first and second innings, respectively. However, Trumble’s lethal bowling spell and six wickets in the second inning helped them win the game.
