In the third innings, Australia made 123 runs and lost the match by an innings and 579 runs.

2. Pakistan 708 vs England (1987)

In 1987, Pakistan toured England for a five-match Test series. In the fifth Test of the series, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. Javed Miandad scored 260 runs, while Saleem Malik and Imran Khan made a century each. Pakistan reached a total of 708 runs in the first innings. It remained the highest total for Pakistan till 2009, when Pakistan declared the innings on 765 runs for the loss of six wickets.

3. Australia 701 vs England (1934)

Australia has scored over 700 runs in an innings on four occasions. In 1934, during the fifth Test of Australia’s tour of England, Australia scored 701 runs in the first innings. It was the second time Australia breached the 700-run mark in Test cricket. Australia eventually won the game by 562 runs.
