The Indian stalwart Cheteshwar Pujara is out of favour currently but there is no dispute over the contributions that he has made in his 13-year-long Test career. In this article, we will take a look at the top 3 innings of Cheteshwar Pujara in Test cricket.

This is the first double century for Cheteshwar Pujara in his Test career. He played this knock against England in the first Test of the 2012 series between the two teams at Ahmedabad. After a firm start by the openers, Pujara carried on the momentum for Team India.

Over his long and gritty innings, he faced 389 deliveries and scored an unbeaten 206 runs before India declared the first innings. India eventually won the Test and Pujara was awarded the player of the match for his extraordinary contribution with the bat.

Cheteshwar Pujara is known for his long stays on the crease while batting and he loves to test the patience of the opposition. Well, this knock is a typical Pujara inning where he drained out the Australians to score a double century. He faced 525 deliveries which is a record for any Indian batter and this knock came on a crucial occasion as the Kangaroos had a bit of advantage in this Test at Ranchi.

77 vs Australia, 2021

This a very unusual entry in this list but this batting performance will definitely rank as one of Cheteshwar Pujara’s best knocks in Test cricket, not just for the volume of runs but for the significance of it. In the third match of the 2020-21 Test series between India and Australia in Sydney, the experienced Indian batter showed unreal resilience to face the Australian bowlers and saved the Test match for India. He scored 77 runs off 205 deliveries and also suffered multiple body blows but his perseverance paid off as India eventually drew the match.
