Defending champions Pakistan are officially out of Champions Trophy 2025 after their loss to India on Sunday. Mohammad Rizwan and his side who had come into the tournament on the back of huge expectations were outclassed by Rohit Sharma’s side. Team India also exacted their revenge for their loss in the 2017 finals where Sarfaraz Ahmed’s side won by 180 runs.
India will now face New Zealand in their final match of the group phases on the 2nd of March. The Kiwis still have to play Bangladesh and if Mitchell Santner’s side wins the game they along with India will reach the final four stages of the tournament. The pitch in Dubai proved to be yet another test for the batters but some good innings were being played.
3. Saud Shakeel

Pakistan batter Saud Shakeel came to the wicket at the fall of Babar Azam for 23 in the ninth over of the game. Imam ul Haq soon followed the former Pakistani skipper via run-out for ten runs. Shakeel and skipper Mohammad Rizwan then added 104 runs for the third wicket to help the Men in Green launch a fightback. Shakeel kept taking the singles and hit boundaries at regular intervals and got to his fifty. By the time Shakeel was out for 62, Pakistan had scored 159 on the board with 91 balls left to play.
2. Shreyas Iyer

India’s number four batter Shreyas Iyer came to bat with Shubman Gill having been bowled out for 46. After a cautious start, Iyer began to exercise his full range of strokes. The 30-year-old hit a terrific four using the reverse sweep that left many in awe. Iyer hit the biggest six of the tournament when he clobbered Salman Agha for a maximum that went 102 meters. Iyer who had found form during the Vijay Hazare Trophy for Mumbai has so far been exceptional since his return to the side. Iyer scored his fourth fifty from five ODI matches before departing for 56.
1.Virat Kohli

Former India skipper Virat Kohli yet again haunted Pakistan with his match-winning knock. The 36-year-old came to the crease when Rohit Sharma was bowled by Shaheen Afridi for 20. Kohli didn’t miss a beat as he pulled out his classic shots and even a huge shot over the covers off Naseem Shah as he had during the 2022 T20 World Cup. Kohli despite his recent bad patch of form with the bat managed to score his 51st ODI ton and help India win the game.
