The Asia Cup 2025 will begin on September 9 and will be played in Dubai and Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The final of the tournament will be played on September 28 in Dubai.
Eight teams will be participating in the Asia Cup 2025, divided into two groups. Group A has India, Pakistan, UAE, and Oman. Group B has Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong.
India has the most number of Asia Cup wins with eight title, including one in the T20I format in 2016. They will play UAE on September 10, Pakistan on September 14, and Oman on September 19 in group stages. Ahead of India’s first game, let’s have a look at three players to watch out for in the Asia Cup.
Here are 3 Indian players to watch out for in Asia Cup 2025:
1. Abhishek Sharma

Abhishek Sharma has made quite a noise since his T20I debut in 2024 against Zimbabwe. He scored a century in just his second game in T20Is. He has scored 535 runs in 17 T20Is for India at a strike rate of 193.84 and has two centuries and two fifties to his name. He also holds the record for highest T20I score by an Indian – 135against England.
He is known for giving flying starts to India with his penchant for hitting sixes, as he has hit 41 sixes so far in T20Is. Abhishek is also adept at handling pace and spin with equal disdain and is not the one to be satisfied with cameos.
2. Suryakumar Yadav

Suryakumar Yadav has been a revelation in T20Is since his debut for India in 2021. He has revolutionised batting and hitting with his wide array of strokeplay. He has 2598 runs in 83 T20Is at a strike rate of 167 with four centuries and 21 fifties.
Suryakumar had a mild T20I series against England earlier this year but came back strongly in the IPL 2025, scoring 717 runs with six fifties for the Mumbai Indians. He would be a crucial player for India, as it would be important for him to get going from ball one on spin-friendly pitches in Dubai.
3. Varun Chakaravarthy

Varun Chakaravarthy had a lovely return to Dubai for India in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, taking a fifer in his second ODI. He put the demons of the 2021 T20 World Cup to rest with that performance but will return for another multi-team tournament in the UAE for the 2025 Asia Cup.
The architect-turned-cricketer has impressed with 33 wickets at an economy of 7.02 in 18 T20Is for India. He has the knack for taking early wickets and can even bowl with the new ball upfront. He will be a difficult bowler to deal with for the opposition thanks to his variations and the speed at which he bowls.
