Asanka Gurusinha's Top 3 Performances in ODI Cricket 

Asanka Pradeep Gurusinha, a former batter for Sri Lanka who was born on September 16, 1966, was instrumental in his country’s 1996 World Cup victory. A versatile player, Gurusinha, also referred to as Guraa, was the focal point of Sri Lankan batting from the mid-1980s to the mid-1990s. He was capable of bowling, batting, and keeping wickets.

It was even worse on his ODI debut. He ran out before he could score. His career came to an abrupt end when he declared his retirement due to disagreements with the Sri Lankan Cricket Board and captain Ranatunga. After retiring, Gurusinha relocated to Australia and joined North Melbourne Cricket Club on a three-year deal.

1. 117 vs New Zealand

During Sri Lanka’s match against New Zealand in Sharjah. Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bowl first. Batting first New Zealand managed to score 217 runs on the scoreboard. In reply to the total set by New Zealand Sri Lanka chased down the score as Asanka Gurusinha scored 117 runs, struck nine fours and hit 1 six in his innings.

2. 108 Vs New Zealand

During the third ODI match of the Sri Lanka tour of New Zealand in Auckland, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lanka managed to score 250 runs as Asanka Gurusinha scored 108 runs before getting out to Cairns. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka won the match by 51 runs as New Zealand were all out by 199 runs.

3. 88 vs Pakistan

During the Pakistan series, Sri Lanka was asked to bat first as Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first. Putting to bat first Sri Lanka scored 253 runs as Asanka Gurusinha scored 88 runs and was the highest run-getter for Sri Lanka in the innings. Meanwhile, Pakistan won the match by defeating Sri Lanka by five wickets.
