3 things LSG need to do to make strong comeback next season

3 things LSG need to do to make strong comeback next season

The Lucknow Super Giants have a horrendous show in the Indian Premier League 2025. The side has failed to make it to the top four this season. They have consecutively made it into the playoffs in the IPL 2022 and IPL 2023 but failed to make it to the knockout stage in the 2024 and 2025 seasons.

The cricketing world had predicted LSG in the top four ahead of the tournament, but their flop show has knocked them out of the prestigious tournament. The side must be aiming to stage their comeback in the next edition. Given below are the three things that LSG needs to do to stage their comeback in the IPL 2026.

1. Pick better bowlers in auctions

One of the major reasons behind LSG not doing well in the IPL 2025 was their not-so-threatening bowling attack. While Digvesh Rathi and Avesh Khan bowled well, the other bowlers were not good for LSG. Shardul Thakur, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Akash Singh, and Ravi Bishnoi could be released either to buy them at a lower price or to go after overseas pacers who could operate well in multiple phases of a game. This bowling attack was one of the major concerns of LSG, suffering many defeats in this edition.

2. Buy good middle-order batters

LSG had one of the best top orders for a team in the IPL 2025. The trio of Aiden Markram, Mitchell Marsh, and Nicholas Pooran was brilliant. However, the batters after them, like Rishabh Pant, Ayush Badoni, and David Miller, failed to perform well. LSG must have a better middle order than that. The side has seen the middle-order batter struggling in this edition, and they need to make a massive change in their batting unit ahead of the IPL 2026.

3. Massive improvement in fielding

LSG’s fielding unit was one of the worst for a team in the 18th edition of the league. Be it ground fielding, throwing, catching, or awareness in the field, LSG’s fielding was poor and cost them many matches. As a unit, LSG must work hard on their fielding in the IPL 2026.
