3 things India needs to do right to win the match against New Zealand in Champions Trophy

India’s campaign started on a great note by beating Bangladesh by six wickets. The Indian batters did a great job in the first game and their next target would be New Zealand. The Kiwis defeated Pakistan in their home ground, so their confidence levels will be at their peak. Hence, India will have to be extra careful during the game and not let any simple mistake hamper their chances. If India wins against New Zealand, their chances of qualifying will be high.

Here are the three things India needs to do right to win against New Zealand:

Secure wickets in power plays

India’s batting lineup is quite strong but they tend to lose wickets within the power plays. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both end up throwing their wickets which might hamper their chances of winning the game. Apart from them, even Shreyas Iyer’s performance wasn’t good against Bangladesh, so India will have to be extremely careful about the batting lineup.

Destroy New Zealand’s top order

The Kiwis have a strong top order who can be extremely dangerous. Will Young scored a magnificent century against Pakistan in the first game which speaks volumes about their performance. Hence, Indian bowlers will have to take early wickets to stop the batters from scoring runs.

Fielding have to be strong

In the game against Bangladesh, Indian fielders weren’t proactive on the field. There were many missed catches and stumpings. Even captain Rohit Sharma dropped a sitter while Axar Patel was bowling. This will be the entire team’s responsibility to come forward and keep up the game on the field.
