Team India have already wrapped up the ODI series against England with their four wicket win in Cuttack on Sunday. Chasing 305 runs to win, Rohit Sharma scored 119 runs with Shubman Gill notching up his second successive fifty of the series. Axar Patel was not out on 41 as India won the game with 33 balls left to play.
With the ball, Ravindra Jadeja picked three wickets from his ten overs. Debutant Varun Chakravarthy bowled ten overs and picked the sole wicket of Phil Salt and gave away 54 runs. The final game of the tournament will be played in Ahmedabad on Wednesday before both teams get set to play the 2025 Champions Trophy tournament starting in a week’s time.
Here’s what India needs to do win the third ODI against England
3. Concentrate on good fielding

The Men in Blue have been known to be good in the field but their efforts on Sunday were shocking. Axar Patel dropped an easy catch in the sixth over to give Phil Salt an early life. Shubman Gill took two stunning catches but there were several lapses in the field that will anger skipper Rohit Sharma. Pace bowler Harshit Rana gave away a needless overthrow. India cannot afford such lapses if they have completed a rare series whitewash.
2. Better bowling effort from the seamers

Mohammed Shami’s return to international cricket hasn’t set the world on fire. The 34-year-old has looked rusty in the last few matches. On Sunday, Shami was hit for runs as he proved expensive with the ball as he gave away 66 runs from 7.5 overs. Gus Atkinson was the only wicket for Shami on Sunday during the second ODI. Harshit Rana was smashed for 62 from nine overs as he was clobbered to all parts of the ground in the death overs.
1. Virat Kohli and KL Rahul need to step up

Rohit Sharma finally found his form with the bat to score his 32nd ton in ODI cricket. Shubman Gill has already scored two successive fifties in the series but the concern is surrounding two players. Former skipper Virat Kohli who missed the first game due to injury managed to score just five runs on his return to the side. KL Rahul has seen his fortunes in ODI take a nosedive having scored mere 12 runs in the first two matches. If Team India has to complete the series whitewash they would need their veteran duo to get back to their best with the bat.
