3 star batters who never won the orange cap in IPL

Over the years, many players have won the Orange Cap award for scoring the most runs in a season. Only a select few have won it twice or thrice over the course of 16 seasons

Also, only two players have won the IPL title and the Orange Cap awards in the same season. On the other hand, there are many stars who never won the Orange Cap. In this listicle, we will discuss those players

3 players who never won Orange Cap:

1. Suresh Raina

The former India and Chennai Super Kings batter played for the franchise from 2008-2015 and 2018-2021. In some of these seasons, he was one of the top-10 run-getters but never won the Orange Cap. Raina was part of the 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021 winning CSK squad

In 2022, he went unsold and months later, decided to retire from Indian cricket, having retired from international cricket. Talking about his IPL numbers as a batter, the left-hander ruled that till a few seasons back. After playing for 205 games, mostly for CSK and a few for now-defunct Gujarat Lions, he amassed 5528 runs.

2. Gautam Gambhir

The former Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders skipper came close a few times (2008 and 2012) to win the Cap. However, in the inaugural season, the Daredevils (now Capitals) lost the semis to eventual winners, Rajasthan Royals.

On the other hand, in 2012, his team, KKR won their maiden title, followed by another one two years later under his captaincy on both occasions.

3. Rohit Sharma

For someone who continues to play in the tournament after making their debut in 2008, it is hard to believe that the former Deccan Chargers and now Mumbai Indians skipper has scored over 400 runs in a season only six times.

In a league where a few players are notching up more than 600 and a couple getting more than 800 runs, winning Orange Cap needs a lot more than 400 runs. However, he led MI to five IPL titles.
