India’s skipper Rohit Sharma is set to return for the upcoming 3-match ODI series against Sri Lanka, starting in August. After winning the T20 World Cup, he came to India and returned to the US for a promotional event. Now, he’ll be coming back to play the series. As per reports, if Rohit doesn’t come back, Shubman Gill or KL Rahul will be given the team’s captaincy. As of now, Rohit will be leading the Indian team.

1. Grooming youngsters in a longer white-ball format

Rohit Sharma has been a captain for more than a decade now. Be it in the IPL or the national side, he has given his best in every tournament. Hence, his presence in the team will help in grooming the youngsters in white-ball cricket. He can give good suggestions and help them grow in the process. The more he stays with them, the better it is for the youngsters.

2. Presence of a senior player while other seniors are likely to rest

While players like Virat Kohli and Jasprit Bumrah are rested and Hardik Pandya won’t be available too. Hence, Rohit Sharma’s presence in the team will add a lot of value for the youngsters who will be joining the team for the first time. He’s also leading the series which is good news for the team and the fans.

3. Preparation for Champions Trophy 2025

As the Champions Trophy 2025 is approaching faster than ever, Rohit needs to stay in the game for a longer time to have that experience which will help him later. Champions Trophy is one of the major tournaments and India needs to prepare well for the tournament.
