3 reasons why RCB can win their first IPL title after qualifying for the finals

3 reasons why RCB can win their first IPL title after qualifying for the finals

RCB made a dominant entry into the IPL 2025 final with a convincing 8-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the tournament’s first qualifier on Thursday, May 29. The game was played at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh. The visitors bundled out the PBKS at just 101 runs in 14.2 overs.

Later, they chased it down comfortably in just 10 overs, scoring 106 runs for the loss of just 2 wickets. Now, RCB will face the second qualifier’s winner in the final of the tournament. Notably, the second qualifier of the tournament will be played between the Punjab Kings and the winner of the eliminator between the Mumbai Indians and the Gujarat Titans.

With that said, here we’ll have a look at the 3 reasons why RCB can win their first IPL title after qualifying for the finals.

Current run of form

The Red and Gold are coming off a sensational run of form in the tournament, including the most recent tremendous 8-wicket win over the Punjab Kings in the first qualifier. Before that, they finished their league stage with a historic 6-wicket win over LSG in the tournament’s last league match.

Besides that, Rajat Patidar’s men ended up in the second spot on the tournament standings, with nine wins, four defeats and a ‘no-result’ game in their 14 league matches. So, considering their current consistent and brilliant run form, RCB are the top contender to win the final and lift their first-ever IPL title in the tournament’s history.

Intact top and upper middle-order in batting

One of the major reasons for RCB’s success in the ongoing 18th edition of the Indian Premier League is their strong batting lineup, which has managed to smash some big totals, alongside chasing the big targets in the tournament so far. They have an intact top order and upper-middle order in their batting lineup, which makes them look stronger compared to the opponent.

The top order, starting with the in-form openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli, followed by skipper Jitesh Sharma and skipper Rajat Patidar, is capable of providing a strong foundation for the innings. Later in the middle-order, Liam Livingstone and Tim David, alongside Romario Shepherd, are there for power-hitting to help the side post a big total on the board, or chase a big target in the second innings.

Josh Hazlewood’s return in the bowling attack

One of the biggest positives for RCB in their 8-wicket win against PBKS in the first qualifier was the return of their veteran pacer Josh Hazlewood in the bowling attack. The star Aussie speedster proved his worth for RCB immediately on his return. He scalped 3 wickets at just 21 runs in his 3.1 overs, with a brilliant economy rate of 6.63 and an amazing bowling strike rate of 6.33.

So, Hazlewood will be a vital cog in the wheel for RCB in the final, and his outstanding run of form with the ball can lead the RCB to win their first ever IPL title in the last 17 years across 18 seasons of the tournament. Notably, Hazlewood is also the leading wicket-taker for RCB in the tournament’s current edition.
