3 Reasons Why PAK-W Lost to IND-W in the 6th Match of ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

3 Reasons Why PAK-W Lost to IND-W in the 6th Match of ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

Matches between India and Pakistan never disappoint, and this match was no different. Under the Colombo sun and stressful conditions, Pakistan started strongly and restricted India to 247 in 50 overs. Fatima Sana and Diana Baig each had moments of brilliance, and for a while, it seemed like Pakistan would finally solve the World Cup riddle when it came to their biggest rivals. But as is so often the case, the night deteriorated into the situation we’re all accustomed to India efficient, Pakistan disintegrating. Here are the three critical reasons why Pakistan Women came up short again.

Batting Collapse That Never Gave Pakistan a Chance

The primary and foremost reason was that Pakistan’s batting capitulation never allowed them the chance to recover. From Muneeba Ali’s frenetic run-out to Sadaf Shamas’ lightly tapping one back to Kranti Goud, the top order was deemed completely out of sync. By the 12th over, Pakistan found themselves floundering at 26/3, and their hopes rested solely on Sidra Amin’s stubborn 81. She battled through it all, sweeping and steering her way against a challenging Indian attack, with little support from the other end. No partnership lasted more than a couple of overs, and when Amin fell in the 40th over, the Pakistan resistance evaporated quicker than a dropped slip catch. It wasn’t a collapse per se – it was a slow-motion explosion borne from uncertainty and lack of intent.

India’s Game-Changing Bowling Performance

Then came the game-defining brilliance from the Indian bowlers. For many, unheralded Kranti Goud led the way. On a pitch where discipline prevailed over drama, Goud bowled like a surgeon. Tight lines, sharp lengths, and a sense of quiet menace. Her 10-3-20-3 spoke volumes of expertise and control. Every time Pakistan attempted a rebuild, she struck; Goud took Shamas first, Riaz second, and importantly ended Pakistan’s only meaningful partnership with Natalia Pervaiz. Not to mention Deepti Sharma’s three-for and Sneh Rana’s clever double, Pakistan had no answers. The Indian spin attack didn’t just take wickets; they sapped the confidence of Pakistan with every dot ball.

Overreliance on Stars and Fielding Lapses

The third nail in Pakistan’s coffin was its chronic overreliance on Sidra Amin and Fatima Sana. Nobody else contributed. Fatima, having bowled well, broke down with the bat and managed just 2 off 15. As for the middle order, the whole concept of the engine room was out of gas before it could even start. Nobody could make the changes necessary to respond to India’s fine-tuning. Worse, Pakistan’s fielding looked bland and the running between the wickets was akin to dangerous. Muneeba’s first ball dismissal set a panic tone that never really went away. India’s energy, on the other hand, was electric – direct hits, terrific catches, and talk.

Pakistan bowled well enough to keep themselves in the game, but batted poorly enough to take themselves out of the game. India’s overall winning streak against Pakistan becomes 12-0; this match once again reinforced that being calm under pressure wins tournaments.
