3 reasons why Harshit Rana can do well in Duleep Trophy 2024

3 reasons why Harshit Rana can do well in Duleep Trophy 2024

New Delhi fast bowler Harshit Rana has been marked as a player to watch out for since his impressive performances in the IPL. The 22-year-old played a key role in Kolkata Knight Riders winning their third IPL title earlier this year.

Such performances earned him a call-up to the Indian side but sadly he didn’t get a chance to play. Now a major change has come about as he is set to play in the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024 tournament.

Harshit Rana has been named in the India D team which is set to be led by Shreyas Iyer. The team also has notable names like Ishan Kishan, Devdutt Padikkal, Axar Patel, and Arshdeep Singh.

Here are the top three reasons why Harshit Rana can do well in Duleep Trophy 2024

3. Overall record in domestic cricket

Harshit Rana has played 7 games in first-class cricket and has already picked 28 wickets. His best figure of 7/45 is his only fifer and also came in the game where he picked his only 10 wickets in the game. With a bowling strike rate of 39.5, there is work to do for the pacer. One cannot discount the fact that Harshit Rana uses his height well and can bounce out the batter at good speeds. This is something that caught the eye of many experts since his debut for Delhi.

2. Freshness in the wickets

The Indian domestic season is just about to start and the wickets at most of the venues are going to be fresh. This is an ideal scenario for a pace bowler like Harshit Rana who will want to exploit those conditions. Harshit Rana can also swing the red ball at a good pace and this will be a huge problem for the opening batters in the opposition sides.

1. Playing under Shreyas Iyer

India D team skipper Shreyas Iyer knows Harshit Rana well after their time together at KKR. The 29-year-old used the pacer well with the new ball as well as with the old ball. Harshit Rana will take confidence in the fact that he is playing for a captain who knows his skill well and will give him adequate game time. This will be important if Rana has to impress the selectors and make it to the Indian national Test team.
