3 reasons why England can win the Champions Trophy 2025

England cricket team for long were one of the sides who were considered lightweights in the white ball format. After their dismal showing during the 2015 ODI World Cup, skipper Eoin Morgan changed the way the Three Lions played in the white ball format. This change in approach saw England win the 2019 ODI World Cup and the 2022 T20 World Cup.

Jos Buttler and his men are the only recognized side not to win the Champions Trophy. The closest they came was in 2004 and 2013 where they lost to West Indies and India respectively. In 2025, Buttler and Brendon McCullum will hope to end the wait for Champions Trophy and win the title for the first time.

Here are the top three reasons why England can win the Champions Trophy 2025

3. Attacking top order

Phil Salt

Phil Salt and Ben Duckett have been wreaking havoc for England with the bat during the current series against India. Both the batters have played with freedom and scored runs in the first ten overs of the game. Skipper Jos Buttler is yet another player who can single-handedly help his team win with attacking batting. On current form, there is no better batter than Joe Root and the former England skipper has shown a new dimension to his game in the last 18 months. Harry Brook is another batter who has been in great form and on his day he can score runs and win the game on his own.

2. Dynamic all-around players

Liam Livingstone

England has a plethora of all-rounders that some of the other sides don’t have in the tournament. Liam Livingstone, Jamie Overton, and Brydon Carse are three players who can do a lot of damage with the bat and also with the ball. Livingstone has been playing the role of a finisher and can roll his arm over when called upon. Brydon Carse and Jamie Overton are more than capable with the bat and also pretty accurate with the ball.

1.  Genuine pace attack

Jofra Archer

Jofra Archer and Mark Wood will bring the pace quotient as both bowlers can clock over 90 miles per hour. Their hostile pace has already tested the Indian batting unit and the same will be expected when the duo head to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy. Adil Rashid will spearhead the spin attack and despite his advancing years, Rashid has become more lethal with the ball in the white ball format as seen during the recent series in India.
