3 reasons why England can beat India during the five-match Test series

3 reasons why England can beat India during the five-match Test series

India and England will be writing a new chapter in their glorious rivalry in Test cricket with the upcoming 5-match Test series. The Indian team has not lost a home Test series since 2012 but the English team will be a worthy opponent. In this article, we will take a look at why England can beat India in this long Test series.

Absence of Virat Kohli

Former India captain Virat Kohli is not available for selection in the first two Test matches due to personal reasons. This is a big blow to the Indian team as Kohli is undoubtedly the most influential batter in the Indian batting unit.

His experience and presence would have made a lot of difference in the first couple of Test matches. Now that Kohli will not be there in the initial phase of the series England can exploit that and take a valuable lead which can prove to be decisive in the long run.

Inexperience in the Indian batting order

The Indian team management has decided to move on from players like Ajinkya Rahane and Cheteshwar Pujara to give opportunities to some new names. Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal are the prominent young faces who have been given an opportunity by the team management to establish themselves.

Well, in this series England can take advantage of the fact that these youngsters have not gained much experience yet and might crumble under pressure.

Impressive results in the subcontinent

One of the biggest inspirations for England to win this series will be their performance in Pakistan. The English team toured Pakistan in 2022 and won the Test series in a dominating fashion. The ‘Bazball’ brand of the game worked for England in Pakistan and that experience might come in handy for them in this series.

The pitches in India won’t be as flat as they were in Pakistan but the fact that they have performed well in subcontinent conditions will definitely give them a big boost.
