3 reasons why Axar Patel should play in the 4th Test

The Test series between India and England is approaching the business end. The home team has a 2-1 lead and the visitors will be gunning for a comeback in the next Test. The 4th Test is crucial in a lot of aspects as the fate of both sides will be decided in the next Test. There are expected changes in the Indian lineup and in this article, we will take a look at why Axar Patel should play in the 4th Test.

The nature of the pitch in Ranchi

Traditionally, Ranchi has been slow and low-track. Sometimes we have also seen that uneven bounce and whenever there are conditions like this then Axar Patel becomes a very difficult bowler to play against. We saw what he did in Ahmedabad in the last Test series at home against England. The pitch at Ahmedabad had an uneven bounce and Axar was taking wickets for fun in that Test. The pitch Ranchi can help his cause in the next Test.

An extra batter

In the last few years, Axar Patel has become a much-improved batter. He has worked really hard to get better when it comes to batting. The all-rounder has delivered some impactful performances with the bat for India. Currently, the Indian batting unit is underperforming. Yes, the Rajkot Test was absolutely phenomenal in terms of batting but there is still a lot that can be improved. Axar’s inclusion will bolster India’s batting unit.

Bumrah Rested

It is expected that Bumrah might be given rest in the next Test in Ranchi. It is important to manage the workload of India’s prime fast bowler and Team India appears to be in favour of not playing Bumrah in the next match. Considering Bumrah’s exclusion and the conventional nature of the pitch in Ranchi it is a logical decision to bring Axar Patel back into the playing XI.
