Virat was also the captain of the side when he scored this double hundred in 2016 at Wankhede in the fourth match of the 5-match Test series. In reply to England’s 400 in the first innings India posted 631 runs on the board and the Indian skipper was the hero for his team in the first innings. The home team won the match in the end by a huge margin of an innings and 36 runs.

Joe Root – 218 vs India, 2021

The former English skipper, Joe Root, is one of the most successful batters when it comes to India vs England Tests. He also features among the batters with a double-century in the series between the two teams. Root achieved this feat in 2021 at Chennai in the first Test of the series. His 218-run knock played a huge role in England’s victory in the match. It was a tough pitch to bat on but Root showed his class and led the team to a memorable victory.
