Chennai Super Kings were dealt a major blow when their skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad was ruled out of the rest of IPL 2025 season. The 28-year-old had got injured in the game against Rajasthan Royals when he was hit on his forearm by Tushar Deshpande. Despite playing the next two games, Gaikwad seemingly failed to recover from the injury.
With Gaikwad now out for the season, MS Dhoni has taken over as the captain. This injury also means that CSK have lost a key batter who has been of immense value over the years. Gaikwad who began his career as an opener slotted himself at number three this season but the runs began to dry up.
Here are the top 3 batters who can replace Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2025
3- Shaik Rasheed

20-year-old Shaik Rasheed has been talked about as one of the best young talents in the country. Despite being in CSK’s benches for the last few years, Rasheed hasn’t been able to make his IPL debut yet. The 20-year-old is batter who can play well according to the situation and play the anchors role or play attacking cricket as the situation demands. In the 17 T20 games that Rasheed has played he has scored 352 runs with an average of 29 and a strike rate of 127. The right-handed batter has also hit a century and one fifty so far in his fledgling T20 career.
2- Vansh Bedi

22-year-old Vansh Bedi is a young wicket keeper and batter who has been turning heads with his aggressive batting. In the Delhi Premier League tournament, Bedi scored 221 runs with the bat and hit one fifty. His strike rate of 185 and his 11 fours and 22 sixes in the tournament show the fearlessness he could bring to the table with the bat. Bedi is also a very good wicketkeeper and if needed can step up to the plate. Since CSK are struggling for runs in the powerplay overs, Bedi could be a good addition to the playing XI.
1- Andre Siddharth

At the age of 18 young Andre Siddharth is being touted as one of the best young talents in Chennai cricket. Siddharth has already played five first-class game and scored 612 runs with an average of 68 with one ton and five fifties. Siddharth is known to be a technically sound batter and can play the pacers as well as the spinners with equal ease. With Ruturaj Gaikwad gone, CSK might be tempted to give the 18-year-old his first start in the league in the next few matches.
