India will host the World Cup in 2023. A World event is back to the subcontinent for the first time since 2011. Ahead of the World Cup a lot of teams have faced injury troubles and this means that there could be last minute changes made to the World Cup squads. This means people who could not make the squad initially might have a chance to make it. Most of the teams have been grappling with injuries.
When we talk about big tournaments, the beauty of it is that the pitches in India might be different as compared to what it normally is. So sides will want to have good squads with all-round ability that will help sides to cover all bases come the 50 over tournament. Let us look at three players who can replace Travis Head for Australia if he is ruled out.
3. Matthew Short

Matthew Short is one of the up and coming players for Australia. The right-handed batter was the player of the tournament in the Big Bash League (BBL) in 2022 and also has a stint for Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Indian Premier League (IPL). Short could replace Head at the top of the order. He is a big hitter and could be an ideal foil for David Warner at the top of the order.
2. Tim David

Tim David is a big hitting batter who plays in the middle order for Australia. He bowls part time off spin as well. David played his first ODI series against South Africa. If he replaces Head then the Kangaroos will have a very powerful middle order for other teams to deal with. David has been very impressive for Australia in T20 cricket.
1. Marnus Labuschagne

Marnus Labuschagne played the ODI series against South Africa as he came in for Steve Smith who had a wrist injury. He played as a substitute in one of the games and helped Australia win by three wickets. The right-hander has scored 239 runs in four innings in the ODI series so far. In 35 ODIs he has scored 1086 runs for the Kangaroos.
