3 players to watch out for RCB in WPL

This article will take a look at 3 players to watch out for RCB in the WPL season. After a disappointing inaugural season in the Women’s Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore would be desperate to leave an impact this season. The side led by Smriti Mandhana has a lot of star power, but that needs to be converted into the results if the franchise wants to achieve something substantial this year. In this article, we will take a look at 3 RCB players to watch out for in this WPL season.

#1. Smriti Mandhana

The skipper will be the centre of attraction for the franchise and she will also have the biggest responsibility to lead her side to glory. In 2023, Smriti had an underwhelming season with the bat and she could not even accumulate 150 runs throughout the season. She had 149 runs to her name in 8 matches at a disappointing average of 18.62. Mandhana has no other alternative but to deliver if she wants to etch her name in the history books.

#2. Ellyse Perry

The Australian veteran is a trump card for RCB not just for her batting prowess but for her bowling contributions as well. Last year, she was a silver lining for the franchise in a disappointing season and she will be very crucial for the franchise this year too. Along with Smriti Mandhana, she will have to lead the batting order which has some inexperienced names in it. Perry scored 253 runs in the previous season at an impressive average of 42.16 but the Aussie would be keen on going a notch up.

#3. Shreyanka Patil

The 21-year-old right-arm off-spinner, Shreyanka Patil, was the breakout star for RCB last season because of her impactful bowling performances. Her outstanding campaign gave her recognition which ultimately culminated in an India call-up. All eyes will be on the emerging player who had a dream first season. The off-spinner will have to deliver similar performances in WPL 2024 to establish herself as a regular feature in the playing XI.
