3 PBKS players who could stay on bench during IPL 2025

Punjab Kings (PBKS) had the biggest purse in the IPL 2025 auction and they went behind almost every big player. PBKS are one of the four franchises that have never won an IPL trophy. However, this time, the PBKS squad is looking good as the management has acquired some big names during the auction.

PBKS got the services of three star all-rounders Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell and Marco Jansen. They also got Arshdeep Singh back after using the RTM card. They also bought the most successful bowler in the IPL history, Yuzvendra Chahal. However, there were also some others who were lucky enough to get picked but have lesser chances to play in the IPL 2025 season.

Here are the 3 PBKS players who could stay on bench during IPL 2025:

1. Vishnu Vinod (75 Lakh)

Kerala wicketkeeper-batter Vishnu Vinod was included by Punjab Kings in their squad for an amount of INR 75 Lakhs during the IPL 2025 mega auction. He has played 67 T20s so far in his career in the Indian domestic circuit. Vishnu has scored 1620 runs in 63 innings, with a decent batting average of 31.15, hitting a century and eight half-centuries.

However, it seems very hard for the 31-year-old to make a cut to the playing XI of PBKS in the IPL 2025 due to the presence of an established wicketkeeper-batter Prabhsimran Singh. Besides that, Vishnu Vinod has failed to leave any impact with the bat in his last six appearances in the T20s, getting dismissed on single-digit scores in his last six appearances in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2024.

2. Xavier Bartlett (80 Lakh)

Australia pacer Xavier Bartlett will be part of the PBKS squad in the upcoming IPL 2025; he was picked by the franchise for an amount of INR 80 Lakhs in the IPL 2025 mega auction. The pacer made his international debut for Australia earlier this year, in both T20Is and ODIs.

Before that, Bartlett played 55 T20s, including domestic and the other franchise leagues. The management could still struggle to fit the 25-year-old in their bowling attack owing to the presence of some big pace-bowling names, including the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Lockie Ferguson, and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis.

3. Priyansh Arya (3.80 Crores)

Delhi’s young left-hand batter, Priyansh Arya earned a decent bid of INR 3.80 crores from Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 mega auction. He has been in a sensational run of form in the 16 domestic T20s he has played, including most of them in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

The Southpaw has scored 500 runs in 16 innings, with an average of 33.33 and a strike rate of 171.23, hitting a century and three half-centuries. But he might also be benched by PBKS management during the IPL 2025 as they already have an established batting line-up, which includes the likes of Glenn Maxwell, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis, Shashank Singh, Josh Inglis, and the Proteas all-rounder.
