3 Most powerful batters in women’s cricket

Women’s cricket has been garnering a lot of attention in recent times in terms of fan following and is also becoming an increasingly profitable business with the revenue it has been generating.

With the advent of T20 leagues such as the Big Bash League (BBL) in Australia, the Women’s T20 League in India and the Hundred in England, there has, most certainly, been more interest from business ventures to launch franchises. And it is no surprise that this has come to be with an obvious uprise in the quality, with more power-hitters and gun fielders and bowlers in the circuit.

Here are the top three most powerful batters in women’s cricket at the moment:

Sophie Devine

One of New Zealand’s long-serving players, a torch-bearer for the Kiwis and women’s cricket, Sophie Devine is one of the cleanest strikers in the game. She has played 119 T20Is and 134 ODIs and is undoubtedly one of the most feared batters in the white-ball game. Devine has scored 2,969 runs in T20Is at a strike rate of 121.23 and an average of 29.10 with a top score of 105. Her recent innings in the Women’s T20 League for Bangalore of 99 off 36 against Gujarat was an advertisement of how Devine goes about her game with the bat.

Harmanpreet Kaur

The Indian captain and one of the icons of Indian cricket, Harmanpreet Kaur, is one of the hardest hitters of a cricket ball. Despite her small frame, she is capable of hitting the ball into the stands consistently and a long way. She has hit many sixes that have gone over 80 metres in distance, which is a rare sight in the women’s game. She is the go-to batter for India whenever the Women in Blue need someone to just come in and up the ante.

Ashleigh Gardner

One of Australia’s rising superstars, Ashleigh Gardner is rapidly becoming one of the best cricketers in the world. She started off as a specialist bowler but her ability to strike a ball cleanly and win the matches with the bat down the order has forced the team to nurture her as an allrounder. And she has been up to the task ever since. She has scored 1,176 runs in 73 T20Is with an impressive strike rate of 132.43.
