3 Milestones that can be achieved in the MI vs GT clash

Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans will face off each other in a top of the table clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday night. The last time these two sides met was in Ahmedabad where the home team won by 36 runs. 

The current Mumbai Indians side is a different outfit completely. Since their loss at home to RCB, Mumbai have gone on to win six games in a row and have risen to go top of the table. In the last match, MI went to Jaipur and thrashed Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs to show their might not just as a batting unit but also as a bowling unit. 

Shubman Gill and his Gujarat side have been one of the best sides of the tournament so far. Titans hold the sway against MI with four wins from six games which includes the massive win in the 2023 eliminator game. The Titans beat Sunrisers Hyderabad in their last game thanks to the efforts of Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill, and Jos Buttler with the bat. 

Here are the milestones that can be achieved in the MI vs GT IPL 2025 game

1. Chance for Mumbai to go past their record 

After losing to RCB at home by 12 runs in their fifth game of the season, Mumbai Indians have gone on to win six matches in a row. This is just the third time that MI have been able to achieve this feat. The first time MI did this was in 2008, when they missed out on a semi-final berth by a whisker. Their second winning run was in 2017, when they beat Pune in the finals to win their third title. If MI beats GT on Tuesday night, this will be the first time they have won seven games in a row. 

2. Shubman Gill is close to scaling another batting peak

Batting sensation and GT skipper Shubman Gill is on the cusp of a massive personal milestone. The 25-year-old needs 64 runs to reach 5000 T20 runs in what will be his 156th match in the format. Gill has already scored 3681 runs in the IPL with four centuries and 25 fifties. The right-handed batter made his T20 debut for Punjab at the age of 17 against Vidarbha and scored 11 runs. So far, Gill has hit six tons and 31 fifties in his T20 career with an average of 37 and a strike rate of 138

3. Rohit Sharma on the cusp of a massive IPL milestone

Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Mumbai Indians, is only 79 runs away from hitting the 7000-run milestone in IPL cricket. After Virat Kohli, the 38-year-old will become the second batter to reach this enormous milestone. Rohit was out for a duck in his debut match against Kolkata, where he started his career with the Deccan Chargers. With an average of 29 and a strike rate of 132, Rohit has amassed 6921 runs in 267 games thus far, including two hundreds and 46 fifties. In 2013, Rohit had his best IPL season, scoring 538 runs and helping MI win their first-ever IPL championship.
