The Indian coaching staff has lacked a batting coach since the exit of Rahul Dravid’s management. Back then, Sanjay Bangar and Vikram Rathour worked as the batting coaches of India. As Gautam Gambhir wanted his own set of individuals for different roles, Abhishek Nayar and Morne Morkel have been a part of the coaching staff in different roles. However, a batting coach hasn’t been appointed yet.
Given the failures of the Indian batters in the home series against New Zealand and the away Border Gavaskar Trophy, India is reportedly considering the appointment of a new batting coach. As soon as the reports emerged, one of the popular cricketers confirmed his wish to perform the job. BCCI reportedly has an individual on their bucket list. There could be another candidate in the nominees.
Here are the three individuals who could be India’s next batting coach –
Wasim Jaffer

Wasim Jaffer was one of the greatest batters in the history of Indian domestic cricket. Due to exceptional batting talents in India at his time, the veteran couldn’t get enough opportunities to play for India. In the limited chances he got, Jaffer did well as an opener in Test cricket. After his retirement, Wasim also worked as the Head coach of Punjab Kings in the IPL. He might not be a bad choice to be India’s batting coach.
Sitanshu Kotak

Sitanshu Kotak is the name coming from the reports as the likely choice of the BCCI. He is the current Head coach of India A and worked with Jasprit Bumrah as the head coach during India’s tour of Ireland in 2023. He was a former Saurashtra cricketer with 8061 runs in 130 FC matches at a batting average of 41.76 with 15 hundred and fifties each. He joined NCA as the batting coach and toured Bangladesh, SA, and Australia in the past.
Kevin Pietersen

Kevin Pietersen is the biggest name to have shown interest in becoming the Indian cricket team’s batting coach. The star player was one of the fewest batters to have succeeded in all three formats at the highest level. India might need someone to advise players to adapt to all three formats. With Kevin himself showing his interest in coaching India, it would be a great opportunity for the batters to work with the legendary batter.
